I have a CF9 installation which has been stable for a long time, maybe years.  Two days ago, after a Windows update, my CF datasources no longer worked. The message I get on everyone one of my datasoruces is: Connection verification failed for data source: HomeOnSqlServerjava.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver]TCP/IP error, connection refused. My SqlServer database is running fine; the ODBC32 and ODBC64 applications show the datasources are all valid. So I thought that since CF9 is old I'd upgrade to CF2021.  I did the install but I get the same message with CF2021 as I did with CF9.  So then I went back to Windows and tried to uninstall the update which seemed to cuase the problem, but that didn't fix the problem. My guess, but it is only a guess, is that when Windows 10 did this last update it must have changed some setting or removed some service which the CF ODBC datasources require. Does anyone have any idea how I go a

Hi, We have a legacy CF application that has a number of Java classes as part of its API (we do not have easy access to these). A long-running issue has been that database connections keep rising and are never released. We have tried the JDBC and ODBC drivers for MSSQL with the same overall result. Changing lots of settings in the DSN settings has also yielded no different result. We have a lot of "IF @@TRANCOUNT > 0 COMMIT TRAN" commands when we look in the MSSQL sys.dm_exec_connections table. We wondered if autoCommit was an issue, but have not found a way to effectively use it in the DSN/driver settings. We use the latest MS JSBC driver, version 8.4.1. We wondered if the Java classes were not properly closing the connections - this seems to be the concensus by many developers, however not even CF can close these "stale" connections and eventually the server crashes (web requests pile up and JDBC connections go to zero). Any advice appreciated.

Team, starting to reseach what it would take down the line to move out internal CF website to allowpublic internet access. From previous work, I do understand this server itself would be locked down with no Internet access/FW rules would be needed for internal DB /share connections. etc Any external links/call from Web would also need to pinholed. We are going to CF 2018 this year. Looking for any documentation/gotchas need to consider this new DMZ server.Our SSL Cert also needs allow access ext/internal. ty Jose  

We have CF2018-based systems that heavily utilize the CF PDF creation subsystem.  These systems were initially deployed on CF Standard Ed., but we found the PDF single-thread limitation in that version to be too constraining.  We upgraded to Enterprise, as the PDF subsystem is supposed to be multi-threaded.  However, there are some situations where PDF generation requests can deadlock, and negatively impact overall system performance.  The only fix for this situation has been to restart the CF App Server service.   Adobe has a hotfix available, https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/CF-4198342, which they will provide on request.  This fix has also been included in CF2021.

We noticed today that the system time on our server where CF is running was three hours off. The admins fixed the system time, but the time that ColdFusion outputs using its Now() function is still three hours off. Does updating the system time require a CF restart? Could it be that ColdFusion separately manages its time internally once it comes up, unrelated to system time?

I have a situation where an excel file is created on the server via ColdFusion and if I have it downloaded to my local machine, via my code, I will get what a appears to be a previous version of the file. If I copy the file from the server to my local machine it is what I expected. The file should have 30 rows but the downloaded version has 60 rows. I have watched the file change the time stamp on the server during the code running so I know the file was changed. I have tested the code on 2018 on a different server without this happening. Trying to determine if there is a server setting or a issue in 2016. Any ideas.

This usually indicates a programming error in Java, although it could also mean you have tried to use a foreign object in a different way than it was designed." I have also tried setting the value to a local variable or even the application scope, but the error is the same. Help! 

We're exporting some data to CSV files and when using CFFILE (write/append) with CHARSET set to "utf-8", the file seems to be properly encoded, but there's not BOM (byte order mark) at the beginning of the file. As far as I know, this is standard practice as the BOM is optional.  Some applications (like Notepad) open the file just fine, and render the UTF-8 accented characters, angled quotations, etc. just fine. Excel, however, has issues when opening the file if the BOM is not present.  If I manually add the BOM to the beginning of the file using another application, Excel opens it fine (and so does Notepad). Is there a simple / recommended way to add the BOM to the file using CFFILE or other built-in functionality? The BOM character entry in UTF-8 is U+FEFF (65279) or EF, BB, BF in raw hex.  So currently, I'm starting our file output with CHR(65279), and this does seem to work. Thanks

Good morning,       I am having an issue when attempting to add a new or remove an existing web server via the ./wsconfig -i gui command on my CentOS 7 box.  I am getting a message when attempting to add or remove: "This web server is already configured by some other version of ColdFusion.".  This is a new install of ColdFusion 2018 and the server has never had another instance of ColdFusion installed.  However, I have had to un-installal/re-install ColdFusion on a couple of occasions.  I would really appreciate any insight on how I can fix this issue as I am currently testing some test web applications before moving production applications over to this new server. Daniel

Hi!I hope nobody minds, this is not strictly a Coldfusion issue. But I like my chances here better than in any of the other, more general forums. I'm trying to embed a video in a div on my site's homepage. Whether I use the iframe embed code that YouTube provides, or create it as an <object>, the video will play, embedded, within the div for all screen sizes but my iPhone screen. In that case, it zooms to fullscreen when the video starts, and I can click the control on the video as it's playing to force it back into the div. This is just a borrowed video, so it doesn't relate to the site's content.  I've searched for an <iframe> or <object> method that might force the video to play "minimized," but I can't find anything. Hello,We recently migrated our applications from ColdFusion 9 to ColdFusion 2016. One of our applications SFTPs files using cfftp tag.We noticed that CFFTP tag with ColdFusion 2016 no longer works. We worked with our internal IT team and the remote SFTP server team to resolve all issues with firewall. When we connect with WINSCP from our end, we were able to successfully connect to the remote server but when we use CFFTP from ColdFusion 2016, it seems stuck in the CFFTP tag. It does not even time out.Initially we thought it's the same code as CF9 and since CFFTP worked in CF9, it should work in CF 2016 but it did not. Later we realized that some of the tags were deprecated and we corrected that and ran the tests. This is about as mission critical as it gets in the US Federal World. PDFs generated by ColdFusion must be section 508 compliant. It looks like the biggest issue is tagged content. Has anyone successfully generated a tagged pdf in ColdFusion 11???

My form shows the outstanding jobs and below looped output of which tech in each area they can assign the jobs to.
