Adobe Acrobat trial and charged months later, cancellation fee shows up. Refund advice?

I signed up for an Acrobat Pro free trial and forgot to cancel. The weird part is I only got charged recently (months after the trial). When I try to cancel from the Adobe website, it shows an early cancellation fee, so I stopped. Has anyone dealt with a delayed charge like this? What’s the best way to get a refund or get the cancellation fee waived (chat/phone/escalation)? Thanks!
