Beware of Adobe Free Trial Scam

Hi,

I decided to try out the Adobe Illustrator on a two week trail basis, but then decided that it wasn't for me. When I was cancelling, Adobe offered my a three months free trial and I decided what the hell, let's try it for three months. I barely used the program over the three months and decided today to cancel the subscription before the three months are up. But on cancelling, I was then told that I would have to pay a $100 cancellation fee!!! This cancellation fee was never mentioned when I was offered the three months free trial or I'd never have agreed to the free trail in the first place - TOTAL SCAM.

I am really surprised as Adobe's software is really great and the company has a great name, but clearly this is a total money making scam by what I thought was a reputable company. I've cancelled my subsciption and will be telling everyone I know in the creative fields to beware of Adobe in the future. Certainly, I'll never be buying or using any of their products again in the future.

Best,

Paul Cahill

Adobe has recently been introducing 14 day trials to selected regions so the 14 day trial could be genuine here. Caught me by surprise in this thread

14 Day Trial Ended in 7 Days

Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe free trials & downloads  offers a 14 day trial in the US, Italy, Spain and some other regions.

Yeah, maybe scam is too big a word, but when they offered me the three free months they didn't say anything about cancellation fees. But when I was trying to cancel, it was there, in bold, highlighted in red. I just wish Adobe was straight with me is all. Anyway, I'll be sure to read terms and conditions when offered anything free on the internet again. Lesson learned.

If you decided it was not for you, you should not accept any different offer.

I do not know what other conditions you agreed on but it seems that the Adobe offer was more kind of take the subscription and we offer the first 3 months for free... Please look again into the conditions you agreed upon. It may be that you misread the conditions, but I doubt that Adobe scammed you into a contract.

I'm very confused by your post because a free trial is usually 7 days long, not 2 weeks.  And no credit card is needed to get a free trial.  It automatically stops after 7 days so there is nothing to cancel.   So I'm fairly certain you signed up for something MORE than a free trial.   And when you tried to cancel your obligation, Adobe generously offered you 3 free months to keep subscribing.   Where I come from, that's not a scam.  Tha's good customer retention.

When you 'click to agree' to the subscription terms while buying a subscription, that means that you really do need to read BEFORE you buy a subscription... https://www.adobe.com/misc/subscription_terms.html
