Cannot activate adobe acrobat pro 8.1

After my computer crashed, reinstalled all programs but acrobat says program won't activate due to internet connection failure but I'm connected. Entered valid serial number. Of course they don't have phone activation anymore. 
Also use the adobe cleaner to uninstall and then tried reinstalling but same error. 
Any work around?
