Changing account Primary Email Address

Hello,

 

I tried to change my primary email to wat I was using for my secondary email, it says it is already in use. So I deleted the secondary email thinking it will free it up from being used already, but it still says email already in use when I try to change it. I really need to get this resolved as I am getting rid of the AOL address and need to have it changed. Please tell me what mu options are here.
