I currently have an account on my computer paid for by my employer. I am going to remove that and open a personal account. Do I need to delete all of the apps in my Applications folder first before opening the new account?

no, you don't need to remove apps.

if you use a different email than your previous employer plan used, you will have the least problems.  just make sure any cc files stored online by you and that you want are downloaded to your personal computer, https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/transfer-assets.html?linkId=100000252571375

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
