DISPUTE OF CANCELLATION FEE

I am contacting you to formally dispute the cancellation fee being presented to me and to request that it be removed before I proceed with cancellation.

I originally signed up for what I understood to be a 7-day free trial. At no point during the sign-up process was it made sufficiently clear, prominent and unambiguous to me that I was entering into an annual contractual commitment, billed monthly, rather than a straightforward monthly subscription that I could cancel without an early termination charge.

I am therefore disputing that I gave informed consent to an annual commitment carrying a substantial early cancellation fee. The manner in which the offer and subscription terms were presented led me to reasonably understand that I was signing up for a 7-day trial followed by a monthly subscription, rather than agreeing to remain contractually bound for an entire year.

I consider this to raise serious concerns regarding misleading or deceptive representations, inadequate disclosure of material contractual terms, and the validity and enforceability of the alleged cancellation obligation.

I am requesting that Adobe review the original sign-up flow, including exactly what information was displayed to me regarding the subscription duration, billing structure and cancellation terms at the time I enrolled.

I further request that Adobe provide me with documentary evidence of the specific terms to which I allegedly consented, including evidence showing that the annual contractual commitment and early termination fee were presented clearly and conspicuously before I completed the purchase.

Until this matter has been properly reviewed, I do not accept liability for the proposed cancellation fee and expressly dispute its validity.

I am requesting that Adobe waive the cancellation fee and allow me to cancel the subscription without penalty.

If Adobe refuses to resolve this matter, I reserve all rights to escalate the dispute through the appropriate consumer-protection and dispute-resolution channels and, if necessary, pursue legal remedies concerning the alleged misleading representation, inadequate disclosure of material terms and disputed contractual charge.

Please escalate this matter to a supervisor or appropriate complaints-resolution department and provide me with a substantive response rather than simply directing me to accept the cancellation fee.

I am a university student and am barely scraping by. The last thing I need is hundreds of rands from my bank account gone over a program I used once. I find it very slimy for this company to do this, I am very unhappy about this. And to find out that it is a regular occurrence is absolutely disgusting. Having done more research, Adobe faces major legal scrutiny and a $150 million settlement over hidden early cancellation fees, alongside rising phishing scams that impersonate Adobe Acrobat or local tax portals. Meaning that if I do find that I am charged the “cancellation fee” I can file
