Dual sign in needed working on VPN

If I sign in to a vpn network (Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection) to do some work on a remote workstation, even though that machine is already signed in to adobe cc I am being prompted by adobe to sign in again using my own account despite already being signed in on my own system - so effectively, I need to be simultaneously using both instances of my two-workstation license to use adobe at all.

I have two workstations that I use at home (a laptop so I can move around, and my main workstation) so I have to sign out of one of my home workstations when using the vpn...

Why is this?
