How Can I cancel a Yearly plan I did not know about?

I wanted one month of adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Apparently I am on the hook for a year contract. I am paying about $50 a month I do not have and cannot afford $200+ cancellation fee. I know there is a class action lawsuit going on again since march, but I am 2 months away from literally filing for bankruptcy. How can I get out of this?

    Hi @Delightful_friendship9306 ,

Thank you for reaching out and openly sharing your situation with us. I understand that you’re currently facing financial challenges, and an unexpected cancellation fee may add to your concerns, particularly when your intention was to use these Adobe applications for only a short period.

After reviewing your account, I can see that the following subscriptions are associated with it:

    • Adobe Photoshop

    • Adobe InDesign

    • Adobe Stock

    • AI Studio

    • Adobe Illustrator

These subscriptions were purchased as Annual Plans, billed monthly. As outlined in the subscription terms presented during sign-up:

    • Annual plans can be canceled at any time.

    • However, canceling before the annual term ends may result in an early termination fee.

    • This fee is part of the subscription agreement associated with the discounted annual pricing.

Adobe offers refunds for eligible subscriptions canceled within the first 14 days of purchase.

    In your case:

    • Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Stock, and AI Studio have been active for approximately two months.

    • Illustrator has been active for approximately 24 days.

As these subscriptions are outside the 14-day refund window, we may not be able to accommodate a refund request.

For customers who prefer greater flexibility, Adobe also offers monthly plans billed monthly.

    With these plans:

    • You can cancel at any time.

    • There is no long-term commitment.

    • No early termination fee applies when the plan is canceled.

Since you mentioned needing multiple Creative Cloud applications, you may find one of these plans more suitable:

    • Creative Cloud Standard

    • Creative Cloud Pro

These plans provide access to multiple Creative Cloud applications under a single subscription, which can be more convenient than maintaining several individual app subscriptions.

For more information, please review Adobe's subscription terms here:

    Adobe Subscription Terms

I hope this helps clarify why the early termination fee is being applied. If you have any questions about your subscriptions, available plan options, or managing your account, please feel free to let us know. We're happy to help and provide any additional guidance you may need.

CANCEL WITHOUT PAYING THE YEARLY FEE PENALTY: In “manage account” change your plan to any other plan (it doesn’t matter which one but good to choose the cheapest one available). The window to cancel the plan for free (14 days) is reset, as this change of plan is treated as a new subscription/contract agreement, and you can just immediately cancel the new plan for free. You will even get money back from what was already charged from your previous subscription.

     Hi @defaultn1t02op1yddk ,

We just want to add an important clarification for anyone who may come across this post.

While Adobe allows eligible customers to change their plans, the official documentation does not indicate that changing a plan resets the 14-day cancellation/refund period. Adobe's cancellation terms refer to 14 days from the initial purchase, and cancellation charges may apply after that period depending on the type of subscription.

Additionally, when a plan is changed, Adobe states that the previous plan is cancelled and a refund may be provided where applicable, rather than guaranteeing a refund of previous payments.
For this reason, we wouldn't recommend using a plan change as a method to avoid an applicable cancellation fee.

Please refer to these articles for clarity:

Let us know if you have any additional questions.
