Question

How do I Lease or Buy Media Encoder as a standalone application?

It used to be that Media Encoder was available when subscribing to Premiere or After Effects, but I was told today by Sales Support, in no uncertain terms, that now a full all-apps subscription is required to get access to Media Encoder?

PS I find it amusing sometimes when threads get locked... Despite common conception, sometimes in computing a decade-old thread is perfectly relevant to add on to. Or in this case, this 2017 one. 🙂 Unfortunately you can't post to it anymore, which would've been the ri.

@Jeffrey_A_Wright

When did this become effective?

@Peru Bob there has been some discussion on this in the Media Encoder forum, but the current release of Media Encoder is a component of Creative Cloud, and several of the codecs are licensed appropriately as part of the active membership that includes Media Encoder.

A single application membership for Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Animate should unlock the ability to use most of Media Encoder's functionality. Full functionality would only be unlocked with multiple applications, which means an All App Creative Cloud membership.

Hi Jeff,

The link just goes to the main landing page, "What is Media Encoder?"  Do you have links to those forum posts or online documentation detailing which components are availabe and unavailable with the different subscription types?

you were told correctly.  you need an all apps subscription.

or, it may still be included with a premiere or after effects subscription.  start a trial of one of those and see.  remember to quickly cancel if it doesn't meet your needs
