How do I switch to a student subscription?

To avoid penalty fees for cancelling early, wait until your 12th month to cancel your current plan.  Or ask an agent to waive the cancellation fee for you so you can get a new plan at the student rate.  Keep in mind that the 60% discount is for the first year only.  After that it goes up to approx 40% off until you cancel.
