How to downgrade from Acrobat Pro when Adobe wants an update for billing

I do not require the very expensive Acrobat Pro and would like to downgrade to Reader. Adobe is not allowing any changes without an up-to-date credit card. I do not want or need to give them a credit card. I do not want any of the amazing amounts of emails. I feel harassed, honestly. It should be a simple thing to cancel, but it isn't. I just signed up for Lightroom under Apple subscriptions because I will have some control there.

How do I fix this and stop getting emails to pay now?

You can cancel your subscription here: https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/cancel-subscription.html

But if you have an ongoing subscription and have failed to pay for it, they will probably insist that you do before you can cancel it, as you have an unpaid debt.

It was monthly payments. No unpaid debt.

Sorry that you no longer are finding value from the extra features available in Acrobat, Oregon. Please see https://adobe.ly/4iE5g86 for information on how to cancel your active subscription. A valid method of payment does need to be on file to manage any memberships. If you want to remove your information later on, then see https://adobe.ly/4kDrF7h for information on how to request account removal and deletion. This deletion option is only available to individuals with no active plans or unpaid charges. ^JW
