Question

Is this specific Escalation Support workaround and verification code procedure normal?

Hi everyone,

I am in contact with Adobe Support regarding a prematurely ended prepaid subscription. The support manager proposed the following workaround:

  1. I purchase the Photography Plan (20 GB).

  2. Support manually adds 3 complimentary months to my account.

  3. Support immediately cancels the new plan, stops future billing, and issues a full refund for the initial payment.

Additionally, support mentioned they need to send me a real-time verification code (valid for 15 minutes) to process the cancellation and refund, asking me to schedule a time window for this.

I would like to ask the community:

  • Is this overall procedure (purchasing a plan, adding free months, and immediate refund) a standard workaround used by Adobe Support?

  • How does the 15-minute verification code work in practice—am I expected to enter it on a secure Adobe web page, or how is it handled? I will not send any verification code via email to an agent due to security reasons.

I want to make sure I follow standard safety practices while resolving this account issue.

Thank you for your advice!

Update: Support officially confirmed to me via email that I am expected to receive the verification code (the 2FA token) and reply directly to the agent with the code in the email text, so they can input it manually.

In my view, this is not an acceptable procedure to offer customers. Sending a 2-factor authentication code via email poses severe security risks—for instance, an agent could potentially use that code to reset the account password.

that sounds like a valid adobe procedure.  however, you should make sure you contacted adobe support via chat or social media and not email, phone etc.
