I can afford the annual plan paid monthly but my question is, I am in south africa, would the flactulating dollar to rand (za) exchange rate affect my monthly payment

    if the cost is listed in rands, no.  if the cost is listed in another currency, yes.

    or open a swiss bank account.  i did that years ago and found it safe and comforting to know i had an account with swiss francs
