Payment Cancellation Question

So I went to cancel my subscription after a month.; I no longer needed it, and I got an offer for three months free if I didn't cancel it. I decided to click it and then went back in to cancel, and it had dropped the fee from $165 to $96. I cancelled it after accepting the three months, and I still have access to the software until January 1st, 2026. However, when I looked at my banking app to see if the cancellation fee had gone through, I saw no money had been withdrawn from my account.

Because I took the three months free, does that defer the cancellation fee payment until after it expires on January 1st?

I paid through PayPal. It states that I cancelled the plan, which was $22.25 per month, and that the service will expire on January 1, 2026.

the penalty will be 1/2 the 22.25 x the months remaining in your year subscription.
