Unable to upgrade the installed free copy. Selecting the upgrade--error message generated, try later. Unable to resolve.

a previous install and the upgrade subscription on Aug 21 worked for a couple of days. But, after the version 6.1.1 upgrade photoshop could not initialize-crashed every time. After a version 6.2.2 upgrade photoshop, the app worked-issue resolved. However, unable to upgrade to purchase version.

i suspect I may need an uninstall tool to remove all photoshop files on my iPad iOS system and do a fresh install.

help appreciated. Thank you

Ann

Adobe Photoshop 6.2.2, mobile iPad iOS 17.7.10

Hi Sameer_K On October 25, I re-subscribe to Photoshop through Apple App Store. The subscription went through and the Photoshop App validated and confirmed the subscription.

However, on October 30, I received a Photoshop notification to subscribe-time sensitive. I rechecked the subscription section and the App had reverted back to, Free Copy.

I've included the receipt information below and it appears current and the renewal date is for October 25, 2026. I had a previous installation which was initiated on August 25, 2025,

I encountered a similar issue and Apple suggested I cancel the subscription and re-subscribe, which did resolve the issue.

I'm uncertain whether I should re attempt to cancel my subscription once again and re-subscribe. This would make it my second subscription cancellation and second re-purchase. I wish to consult with you before proceeding. Please advise?

Why does it do that, as I did not update the app? Could it be that updating another app on my iPad somehow triggered the anomaly?

Thank you.

ann

Ann, did you active your subscription under a different account? There are still no active subscriptions or recent transactions under the account you are using to post to this public discussion forum. ^JW

Hello @Jeffrey_A_Wright   Thank you for your response. The Photoshop App installed on my iPad was downloaded through the Apple application store and all purchases are routed through Apple's subscriptions. Receipt available for your verification. The Photoshop app confirmed the purchase in the subscriptions' section.

Correction to my OP message, the intital Photoshop installed on October 25, was a v6.2.2 the system automatically updated to the v7, which I believe was the trigger for the pop-up notification to subscribe that I received on October 30 and possibly the cause of the anomaly (My subscription was valid till October 2026).

I was in touch with Apple subscription support and we troubleshoot the problem, the subscription payment was confirmed but was unable to resolve the issue, the supervisor advised me to consult with Adobe developer as it appeared to be a software issue.

This is the second time the problem occurred after an update. The Apple App Store supervisor suggested I cancel my first purchase of August 25, which I did and, initiated a repurchase on October 25 which was confirmed by the photoshop app v6.2.2.2.

Please advise?

thank you

Hi, is there an Adobe tool to remove/uninstall all Adobe Photoshop files from iPad iOS. I need to reinstall a clean/fresh copy of Photoshop to complete purchase.

Due to a previous Photoshop 6.1.1. corrupted file issue, all new installs generate error messages.

Thank you

Ann

Hi @ann_1924,

Sorry to hear about the trouble with Photoshop on your iPad. There isn’t a dedicated Adobe uninstall tool for iOS, but you can try a manual cleanup before reinstalling. Could you please check if you can see any Photoshop files stored in the cloud here: https://adobe.ly/49h0R9L? If you do, you can delete them from there to remove any potentially corrupted files.

Important: Once deleted, these files cannot be recovered — so please make sure to back up anything important before you remove them. After that, try reinstalling Photoshop from the App Store and see if it opens without errors.

Regards,

Srishti

Thank you for your response Srishti. I meant the photoshop software/application files installed on my iPad IOS. Cloud only has my image files.

The Photoshop installed on my iPad generates an error message when I try to subscribe to it. Presently it's a trial/free version.

Ann

i appreciate your response.

Hey, @ann_1924. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out. I checked the account you've used the community for, and I couldn't find an active subscription.

In the screenshot, you're using a VPN. Check if disabling that temporarily helps.

Thanks!

Thank you Sameer K for your response. The issue is resolved, after much tinkering, cancelled previous subscription, waited a couple of day, cold booted the system, reinstalled app. The fresh upgrade subscription finally took. It's presently a fully subscribed version.

Have a great day

Ann
