Reactive Adobe Acrobat Pro XI license

8/4/2026 Please reactive my serial number for  Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on my new laptop. My old laptop that was using it was damaged and is not accessible to deactivate the serial number. I have downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on my new computer and get an error message saying the serial number is already in use by the maximum allowed computers.

My Adobe account does not list any computers using the serial number.

Thank you

you can only recover an activation by using a computer that has a current activation and deactivating it.  if that’s impossible, it’s impossible to recover an action.

    Hi @sg62 ,

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

Quick check before the fix below: when you launch the Acrobat XI installer on the new laptop, does it get to a sign-in screen with a QR code, or does it error out with the activation message before you even see that screen?

Here's what's going on and what usually fixes it:

Acrobat XI is on the list of older, non-subscription Adobe apps whose original activation system was retired, so the app can no longer verify a license the old way; that's very likely why your account doesn't show any computers using the serial number, even though the app itself is blocking activation. Adobe now handles sign-in for these legacy apps through a QR-code method instead of the old serial-activation check:

    1. Launch Acrobat XI on your new laptop.

    2. On the sign-in screen, scan the QR code with your phone (or enter your email address instead, if you don't want to use the QR code).

    3. Complete sign-in on your phone or browser.

    4. You should then be signed in automatically on the desktop app.

Full steps here: Unable to activate or reinstall legacy Adobe apps

Additionally, Adobe Acrobat XI is an EOL application and not supported on the latest Mac/Win OS. For more information, please check the help page https://adobe.ly/4fPpR9E

Hi Amal, Thanks for your response. When I launch the Acrobat XI installer,  it immediately errors out with the activation message. I cannot get to the sign-in screen. How can I bypass the serial number error message to get to the sign-in screen?
