Subscription Pricing - Cost Barrier for Junior Designers
Does anyone know how to send an email to Adobe HQ regarding their cost barrier for entry-level designers?
--
I was recently forced to cancel my Creative Cloud subscription, and I wanted to explain why.
I'm an aspiring designer who genuinely enjoys using Adobe's products, but the cost has reached a point where I simply can't justify keeping the subscription. What frustrates me most isn't just the price itself, it's the barrier it creates for people who are trying to enter the creative industry at a time when the industry is fractured, in flux, and not hiring junior designers.
New designers need regular access to Adobe's tools to build their skills, create portfolio pieces, and remain competitive in a job market where proficiency with Creative Cloud is often expected. Yet many of us don't have enough client work or income to afford an ongoing subscription. That creates a difficult cycle: we need the software to become more employable, but we need to be more employable to afford the software.
I understand that Adobe is a business and that developing and maintaining professional creative software is expensive. I'm not suggesting your products should be free. However, I do think there is room for more accessible pricing for emerging professionals, freelancers with inconsistent income, or those actively building their careers outside of school. Existing student discounts don't help everyone, and the jump from student pricing to full subscription pricing is significant.
I hope Adobe considers expanding affordable options for early-career creatives. Investing in the next generation of designers isn't just good for the creative community, it's good for Adobe's long-term future as well.
In the meantime, I’ll be over at Affinity where it’s free.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.
