The Adobe license we bought was a fraud!

This sounds like an elaborate Phishing Scheme.  I'm certain your Dutch Ministry of Education would like to know about it if they don't already.  There are countless impostors on the Internet these days.  They will say and do anything to get your money.  Never take anything at face value without investigating first.  If it's too good to be true, it's probably not worth having.

Since you did not purchase directly from Adobe, you have no recourse except to contact local law enforcement.  If they stole from you and your colleague, chances are they stole from many other people, too.

You would need to take fraud up with the police. The fraud people are  stealing from you AND from Adobe. It is very sad, this is organised crime on a huge scale. 

You will need to take out a new subscription. BEWARE OF BARGAINS !!
