Unable to confirm student status or change plan

I have had the same package from adobe for several years, I used it all through University, Undergrad and Masters. I now have a separate account for work which I now use most often so instead of paying over £50 a month I tried to cancel my account only to be told there was a £286 cancellation fee- I cant afford to keep the account so I certainly cant afford to pay the cancellation fee.
To resolve this I then tried to reduce my costs by 'managing my account' and reducing my 'ALL' package to Illustrator only for my daughter to use now she has started college but it wont allow me to change my package.
Then we tried verifying her student credentials instead and it wont allow that either, despite providing her tuition, student email and enrolment details.
I feel like my only option is just to cancel the payments my end now as it is prohibitively expensive and adobe seems unwilling to change my package, verify my daughters educational status or allow me to cancel without fees!!! Ive had this account for 10years and its seems a bit unreasonable to hold me to ransom after all this time because I can no longer afford the package Im on!
Also the bot is ridiculous it just keeps sending the same link and doesnt understand that I get an error message every time I try to change the plan.... be great if adobe spent some of their income on customer service!!
