When to cancel Adobe membership and avoid the cancellation fee?

Hello,
As I cannot find a way to contact a human or chatbot via phone or chat, I am posting my problem here. Perhaps someone on this message board can assist me with resolving the issue.

I wish to cancel my Adobe subscription, Acrobat Standard, prior to the automatic renewal on 12 October 2025. When I attempt to do this today, 9 October, 2025, I am told that I will have to pay a cancellation fee of 13 USD (see screenshot), which is basically a charge for an extra month with no access to the services.

My question: on what day could I cancel this subscription without the cancellation fee? That is, if I cancel on 12 October, would I not incur the fee? But if there were then no fee, wouldn't I then have to pay the subscription cost for one more month of services, as the contract automatically renews?

Thanks for any clarification, community.

Thanks for reaching out!

I checked your subscription details, and you currently have an annual plan for Acrobat Standard, which has been active for 9 months and 26 days.

The message you're seeing about the cancellation fee is due to the Early Termination Fee (ETF) policy. This fee applies when an annual plan is canceled before completing the full 12-month term or before the final payment of the term is made.

Since your plan hasn’t yet reached the 12-month mark, the system is showing the ETF message. If you wait until the end of the 12th month, you’ll be able to cancel without incurring this fee.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I’m here to help!
