Why did Adobe double the price of my account? They want me to create a new one after disabling the Photoshop app on my Mac

A long time customer of Adobe (photoshop 7). My subscription is only for Photoshop, until suddenly I had do download that app and pick a “new plan” which is twice what I have ever paid?  Anybody know what is going on besides the usual corporate greed?
