Adobe Crash Daemon preventing Creative Cloud Updater

Hey folks, i'm trying to run the updater in the Application Manager on my iMac (Mountain Lion) but I keep getting an error saying

"Please close the following applications to continue:

  • AdobeCrashDaemon"

If I hit continue it just keeps popping back up and can't see where that application is running (presumably in the background somewhere)

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Neil

Hi Sergei and Neil,

Did you check the Activity Monitor?

Should be in Applications > Utilities folder

- Open it and look under the Process Name column and see if you see anything saying AdobeCrashDaemon

- Try to Quit the process if you find it and then running the Updater again

You should be able to initiate the updater from within any of the CS6 products from Help > Updates (that might be what you are doing already)

I had a similar issue. I couldn't update After Effects CC because of some open app called "Adobe Crash Daemon". I searched for the open app but I couldn't find it. I searched for "Activity Monitor", found "Adobe Crash Daemon", selected it, hit the stop icon in the top left corner, and selected "Force Quit" = problem solved.

That's Pretty Slick David_B. Had no idea the Activity monitor could both point out the offending app and allow me to shut it down.

Thanks!

I was trying to delete some CC and CS6 apps via Creative Cloud when I ran to the error.  "AdobeCrashDaemon" wasn't showing up in activity monitor until I ran uninstall in Creative Cloud again.  It finally popped up, force quit, and was able to uninstall.  Thanks to everyone!

When I closed the background Adobe Creative Cloud program, my update continued to work as it should. I accessed this through the cloud in the upper right menu bar of my screen. Click the sprocket, then close program.
