Discontinuation of creative cloud synced files

I just got an email stating that Files saved to Creative Cloud files folder on your computer will no longer automatically sync with assets.adobe.com.

What (cursing removed) is this?! What am I paying for then? This is an absolutely garbage change and should not be implemented! How am I supposed to sync my work between devices? Am I expected to use a third party cloud service? Why the hell is it called Creative Cloud if the CLOUD part of it is now effectively borked?

Am I missing something here or are we getting screwed?

This really stinks. Getting less for our money, who at Adobe decided this was a good move?

One step further into Adobe's planned locking ecosystem; THIS is not good enough Adobe.

It is actually a lot more serious than you think. I have been talking to Adobe over what this actually means in practice. I am a photographer and I currently have nearly 1Tb of photographs in the sync folder. I assumed (wrongly) that I would simply need to move them across into the "Cloud Folder". But no! There is no way of doing this without re-uploading everything. I THEN find out that the cloud folder will only accept things like .PSD files and NOT common file types like jpg, dng and tiff. So basically, there is nowhere you can put your files in adobe. It was then suggested to me that I use frame.io but when I look at this you can only have 5 folders and 100Gb storage without having to pay $120 a year for the upgraded version. So basically I am paying loads each year for storage I cannot even use and the only solution is to either spend more or to upload the whole lot ont Dropbox or somewhere. None of this is covered in the FAQs or guidance links provided. Awful

@kemslen

i'm not sure what you think is awful, but you do seem to understand the situation.

Hi. What I felt was awful was the fact that all previous communications from Adobe (all made in good time I should add) and all links provided to help pages were focused only on the withdrawal of sync services and talked only of the fact that local files would not be deleted. The do not talk about what to do with the files. What was not evident until I spent 3 hours on a chat with someone at Adobe whilst trying (and failing) to move files from my sync folder to my cloud folder was that this change would ALSO mean that there was no longer any viable storage solution for files of certain (and common) types within Adobe. I felt that Adobe should have better communicated things like the cloud folder being incompatible with many common file types and made it clearer that if you are using reasonably standard file types such as jpgs, dng and tiffs you would likely need to move all your files to another platform completely (no small task for almost a terebyte of files). I only found this out upon trying to move files out of my sync folder and fear that many who (like me) thought that this would be a relatively simple exercise to manage, might only find these things out at the end of January. I hope that clarifies why I felt this had not been handled very well

We are definitely getting screwed. An awesome feature of Adobe CC that many users rely on and pay for is getting removed and costs are remaining the same. Basically it's like if Netflix decided you can't watch shows on your phone anymore. I plan to post anywhere I can my displeasure in this. If Adobe doesn't back peddle it or come up with an acceptable alternative my alternative will be not paying for Adobe CC anymore.

I find this frustrating as well. The company I work for shares a lot of Indesign files, which aren't currently supported on the Cloud documents option, only on the synced files option. The cloud option also doesn't let you share folders, only individual files, which isn't helpful with team organsisation.

Will Adobe be updating the Cloud documents option at all?

@andysy2k

adobe hasn't announced what else will occur with their "modernizing" the cc storage experience.

your local sync folder (only) will stop syncing.

I'm paying for a cloud service that stores and shares my files between my phone and computers. I'm aware that is what it will do, I'm still pissed that Adobe is screwing us.
