Question

Killer feature would change my life.

I've never had an issue on OSX, but across many high end machines and laptops, when it comes to Windows, pretty much at least once or a month or two, I can no longer update any Adobe Creative Cloud app. Error 306, Error 306. Go away, Error 306.

I've investigated way, way back at the start. Searched around like one does. Made valient efforts to track down where Adobe likes to hide anything useful about the problem. Very Windows of them. Bury anything reasonable and give the user something like, "ObscureAndForbiddenError 3243hjKHLJK###!. What did you do!?."

Anyway, I'm sure I found some leads, I'm sure nothing suggested and shared that I found helped, and I'm sure I forgot anything and everything related to that, because it happens on every Windows machine, new or old, and the only thing that is reasonable to do and that works, is to search for the special Creative Cloud uninstaller app - can't just uninstall this thing like it wasn't special - and then uninstall Creative Cloud and then go find the the download for the installer, and install Creative Cloud. And then things are good, until one of the other Windows machines takes it's turn, and the other, and repeat. For multiple years and counting.

And so, I'm sure I won't get it. Even finding the uninstaller you need is like somone let me in on a secret I'm not supposed to know about. But I humbly beg and plead and promise my first born...give me a darn button to press that just like uninstalls this thing and then installs it again. It would be the best thing I've ever seen in an Adobe update. And yeah, I could script something up, that was kind of automated, and maybe often worked, and that I synched across my various machines, and that made my time cursing that I can't just happily use alternatives to everything I use here shorter - but that kind of thing just never pans out as much of an improvement over any decent length of time. So please, please, just give me a low effort, low thought, low number of steps way to do the equivelent of a special, secret uninstall and reinstall of this oh so useful bit of software that I'm deeply committed to disliking - Creative Cloud. Every other Adobe app does get it on it, but I know who the ring leader is. Without him, these other guys would hardly ever step out of line. I just want the necessary fix, across my, yes, silly for one person number of machines, to cost a few less steps, a few less brain cells, and everything would be oh so much better.

Error 306 means there is an installation or update failure.

Make sure you have the latest Windows security updates.

Open Creative Cloud Desktop App > Uninstaller > Repair Tool.

Hope that helps.

Repair doesn't do it. Only thing that ever worked is the uninstaller, reinstall.

I don't know why that has to be more than a button click instaed of a half hidden special program with all these steps. It always solves everything and never loses anything.

As far as what constantly causes it, it's likely the standard terrible dance that Windows loves to do with all these other apps that try run their own minworld inside it - step all over each other.

I'm betting it's that stupid OneDrive which happily hijacks the Documents folder and makes it a nasty exercise to ever take back. And then programes like Adobes and others, stick stuff there, stuff that doesn't always liked to be synced arcross 6 devices. And then I get the wrong sync, and screwed again. Find the secret magick uninstaller. Regular uninstall won't do. Reinstall. Wait to sync screws me again. And then finally say no, I don't get care if I have those TB's of onedrive from office or whatever. No OneDrive. No OneDrive every again.

Hi @Mark23625869f34e, after you run into the update error on your Windows machine, could you collect a log file and share that with us? https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html
