Need Compact/Minimal View for desktop app

I would like to say this creative cloud desktop "experience" has reduced my workflow efficiency and has cause tremendous unnecessary frustration.

I had primarily used it as an app launcher. I would like to see an option to select a minimal view or launcher view of the Creative cloud desktop "experience".

I use the Creative Cloud desktop app to launch applications such as Photoshop or Illustrator, and would like a way to quickly access these shortcuts without launching the full experience with the app catalog, CC library manager, update manager, etc..., and without having to clutter my dock with apps that are used less.

Correct answer iMichael

it's been two month, but thanks jane-e for replying.

My issue is indeed with launching.

I found a third party tool called XMenu that worked for me.

you probably don't understand too well my situation because I am referring to a creative cloud experiece from years ago.

I am not conerned with backgruond running processes.

I just want you (Adobe) to NOT change my experience.

Is the "tremendous frustration" when you are launching apps or when you are using them? It's not clear, as your issues seem to be about launching.

Since you mentioned the Dock, are you on macOS? If so, here are alternate ways of launching apps:

  • Put them on your Dock
  • (Variation): Create a folder and put an alias for each of the apps in the folder, then put the folder on your Dock
  • Open the apps directly from the Application folder
  • Use Spotlight (Cmd+Spacebar) > type part of the name of the app > press Return
  • Put aliases on your Desktop
  • Right-click an appropriate file in Finder and choose "open with" (or double-click if you are sure it's the default application

Hopefully you'll find one method that works for you.

Hi @iMichael , can you say more about the issues you're facing with workflow efficiency? Is it because the app window is still open after you launch other apps?

Are you concerned about other processes running in the background? If so, take a look at this post - https://community.adobe.com/t5/creative-cloud-desktop-discussions/adobe-background-processes/td-p/14242178
