Hi! I use TotalAV as my antivirus and apparently it found two threats by the name of “ame.app.sv_SE.dat” that seemed to have come from Abobe (Not sure what app). It labeled the threat as a TR/SNH which I have no idea what that is yet. Could someone help me out? What does this mean exactly?

ame.app.sv_SE.dat is a data file used by Adobe Media Encoder (AME) for localization purposes in Swedish (sv_SE).

Key Details

  • Purpose: This file contains application-specific data or dictionary information required to display the Adobe Media Encoder interface or functions in the Swedish language.
  • Associated Software: Primarily part of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically Adobe Media Encoder (CS4 and later).
  • Common File Path: It is typically found within the application's installation directory under a localization or dictionary subfolder, such as:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder [Version]\Dictionaries\sv_se\.
  • Naming Convention: The filename follows a standard Adobe pattern:
    • ame: Adobe Media Encoder.
    • app: Application data.
    • sv_SE: Language code for Swedish (Svenska) as spoken in Sweden.
    • .dat: A generic data file extension.

Usage Context

You may encounter this file while:

  • Installing or updating Adobe products, where it is part of the language pack assets.
  • Running system maintenance like defragmentation or file analysis, where it may appear in a list of installed application files.
