Why do my videos on Rush often go black?

Often when I am putting together a video project in Premiere Rush, I’ll get to a point when the playback goes black and I cannot see the video anymore.  I can hear the audio just fine, but the screen is black throughout the entire project.

A couple of things about this issue:

  1. I’ve noticed that this tends to happen once I begin inserting titles and/or overlays to my videos.
  2. If I shut everything down and walk away for a long time (12-24 hours) it may work when I come back.  However, it often happens again shortly after I begin working on the project again.
  3. The videos that this happens to range anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.  Right now I have 4 videos that are under a minute each that has this happening.

I’m not a professional video or audio anything.  This is just a fun thing that I do on the side.  That said, I don’t always have a lot of time so when this happens and my editing is essentially shut down for a day it is a real bummer.

Any thoughts on how to keep this from happening?  I appreciate any help.

Tty updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).
