Backup, Exporting, or Transferring Adobe Portfolio Website?

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to backup, export, or transfer the website I make using Adobe Portfolio? I ask because I do not know how long I will be keeping my adobe services for and I don't want to end up spending hours making a website which I would have to make again if I decide to end my subscription services with Adobe. What are my best options here? Is it possible to save my website by copying the website source code or inspect element? How could this be done - if it can even be done.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

There is no source code to download. Portfolio isn’t that type of website. It’s a closed CMS platform on Adobe’s web servers. Think WordPress site without the admin dashboard. WordPress is all virtual pages assembled on the fly by the server it’s hosted on.

Similarly, all you can do is save each Portfolio page to your hard drive from your browser-- File > SavePageAs (Ctrl+S) or use your Print Screen key to capture screenshots.

What you do with the saved pages later is up to you. In most cases, you’ll have to rebuild the site manually on another platform like WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or Wix (some fees apply).

Wanting a copy of your own work that doesn't depend on a subscription is such a fair thing to ask for. The site itself can't be downloaded, and Adobe's help center has no article on exporting one, but everything that makes it yours can be kept. Open your site address followed by /sitemap.xml and you get a list of every public page. Go down that list saving each page as a PDF from the browser, while the site is still live, since Adobe keeps it up for 14 days after a plan ends.

Full disclosure: I'm a designer, and I built a paid tool for exactly this, Promtfolio (promtfolio.com). You paste your Portfolio link and it rebuilds every project page as a site you own, with the files to download. It's not made by Adobe, and the free way above works too.

Adobe has no interest in letting you use portfolio as a website builder so no unless you have a subscription you have no access and no way to backup your work without buying a second subscription. They don't do anything for 'free' or goodwill its just to keep you continuously paying their ever increasing subscriptions. Try wix , squarespace or webflow they have customizable template sites you can modify and drop yourself in and they all allow backups and even some migration tools to other formats / platforms. Opposite of Adobes Hotel California vibe.
