cloud updates

How it it possible for an app thats primary purpose is to see if I have paid my monthly payment, need updated almost constantly? I have at least 12 different Adobe processes running in the background and the only thing running is Creative Cloud. Instead of adding adding new features, how about cleaning up the footprint on my computer.
