Creative Cloud Desktop app won't sync with cloud

I have been wrestling with this issue for a few weeks now.

Initially I got the message that some files weren't synced.

On my iMac I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application and used the repair tool, but now I cannot sync at all.

I now get the message that "When you turn on File Sync, it will open your finder so you can start syncing files to Creative Cloud".

I'm at my wits end as I don't want to do a clean install of the Mac O/S.

My laptop is at the point where it stage were it just says that some files couldn't be synced.
