Creative Cloud Storage Being Discontinued

I just saw a message from the Adobe people that the back up cloud storage that is currently part of what we pay for, is being discontinued as of Feb 1. Of course, their suggestions of Frame.io or AEM as their alternatives for file back up will cost you a fee. The supposed reason for discontinuing this service is because it doesn't fit their intentions to promote collaboration. As a single designer, I resent this being forced on me. I see no other reason for this except to drain customers of more fee money by a monopoly. Prove me wrong. Anyone else have thoughts?

Is this an Individual or Team/Enterprise plan?

Most individual members probably won't notice that auto file sync from your local Creative Cloud Files folder is gone. We can still save or upload files manually & share them. This won't effect files in your Libraries, Lightroom or Document Cloud folders.

If you're on a Teams/Enterprise plan, talk to your IT administrator. They'll give you instructions on how you should proceed beyond Feb 1.

Yes, using intensively Adobe products will lock you into the Adobe ecosystem. Think for example of using Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. You nowhere get the same functionality at this same price.

Just read it this morning and started to make it work somehow, using the other cloud files. We were relaying on this feature as a team of designers to have always the latest versions at hand.

But the Adobe Cloud is lacking a lot of functionality. I'm realizing this after all morning experimenting with the Adobe Cloud. I really would love to know why it is always a painful journey just to get your work done with Adobe. I can't believe they discontinued synced files for Business accounts too, it was really a true advantage comparing to other imaging software but not very sure about that now.

To be able to achieve the same functionality that is going to have an impact in every business that will have to spend extra money on other storage service.

One thing is true, they never got it to work great in the sense we were never able to sync files partially.

BUT, we will lost the document history that so many times saved me when I was able to download a past version from the cloud. I don't know any storage solution that allows me to see my PSD file online, browse in past versions and get back the one needed. Too bad, Adobe 😞

Document history can be realized locally.

The cloud storage was never thought as a backup solution. And as a cloud service, it never worked as good as competitors solutions, like Dropbox or OneDrive (I do not use GoogleDrive, so I have no idea, how that compares).

Libraries and cloud documents still stay.
