Deleting local files

I need space on my computer, and I want to delete local files from my computer without them getting archived online. Can this be done?

I just don't want to accidentally lose all of my files forever, and I want all of my files to be accessible from the "files" tab in assets instead of the "archives"/"deleted" tab.
