Help me stop ALL auto updates

Hello.

I have been having a problem with CC since December 2025, and I was hoping someone could help. Basically all of my CC applications – AI, ID, PS and LRC – have been updating without my consent.

For context, I am running a Mac with the latest OS (as of January 2026), and:

— I have disabled Auto Update in the CC app itself

— I have turned off all Login Items and Extensions in System Preferences

— I have removed the Launch Agents and Launch Daemons from the Library

Despite having done all this, every week or two I will look in the Applications folder and find that Adobe has installed updates – and sometimes even completely new versions – of some programme without my knowledge or consent.

This is not merely an inconvenience, it is a disaster. I am a book designer who often works on projects that span several months, and I need to make sure I am working on a stable system. Given how bad the last several years worth of CC updates have been, and given that Adobe seems not to care about traditional book design – for example, the last ID update turned off all Typographers Quotes on all documents in a large book I was working on – it is important to maintain control over one's workflow and workspace. At the moment I am reverting to older versions from a backup HD, but this is not a sustainable practice in the longer term.

If anyone can tell me why Adobe products are updating in the background – and more importantly, how to stop it – I would be immensely grateful.

Many thanks in advance,

J. Simon

Because this is still unsolved and because you didn't specifically say:

Did you disable updates for the CC app itself (General tab) or for the apps (Apps tab);

My guess is that you did it correctly, but if you didn't it would be an easy fix.

I have never had any problems with the following setting in the Creative Cloud app.

Can you compare yours?

Creative Cloud

Settings...
General > Automatically keep Creative Cloud up to date ON
Apps > Auto-update OFF
Notifications > for App Updates ON

again, this problem is typically caused by a change in install location.

I use the default install location, but if changing that location causes the auto update, I would call that a bug.

is the install directory specified in the cc desktop preferences the same as the apps you see getting updated?
