I am running Mac OS 10.6.8. Is there any way I can use CC's file syncing? I would just update to Mavericks but when my husband did so his computer started running really slow, so I'm not keen on updating yet.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no, unfortunately the Creative Cloud app requires OSX 10.7 or later

There is Lion 10.7, Mountain Lion 10.8, before Mavericks 10.9.
