Question

Incredibly hard to find a straight answer! 1 licence on two computers.. sync folder issue

Plain and simple; I'm on a Teams plan. I got Two work PC's. I shoot video, another guy with his own license edit. We need a shared folder. I have limited space. I want this kind of set up:

1st laptop (main use, but with limited space on dirve)

2nd desktop (only used for storage with lots of GB/TB available).

The editor have used up his 1TB, on his machine, different sync folder and licence.

I do NOT want to use and external drive on my 1st laptop, hence the reason for 2nd desktop as storage unit!

The "Creative Cloud Files" shared folder is a big issue for many. Such a big fail from Adobe really, 1TB "cloud" [edited by moderator] haha..

Please at least provide some clarity to the several questions listed below.

1) I will NOT use any actually useful Adobe app on my 2nd desktop (Premier, PS etc), this is only as a storage unit that is always internet connected but idle/a sleep.. Does the CC desktop app count as  "an app in use" and is this only "singed-in"?

Adobe says: "You can activate and remain signed in to the app(s) on up to two computers."

To sync files between the 1st and 2nd device, does it mean I have to sing in and out all the time? If so, where is the "CLOUD" function??

2) What if I want to use a useful app, say PS, on a different 3rd PC and will not be running apps at the same time appart from my 2nd storage unit. Will this cause me to sign out on my 1st main laptop?

This is the reason for the question abt "app in use" vs. "licence in use".

3) many ppl want to dump files on the shared folder, and then delete on the "main" device (1st main laptop in my case).

Is it not possible to only keep files on the other 2nd device??

Sure it works Adobe says. Practically impossible I say. Pause sync is not it. Constantly move files to a non-sync folder on 2nd device is such a hassle, and other collab /invited users (different licence) would loose accsess!

4)  Is it even possible to have a work-around where 2nd desktop (strictly as storage unit, signed-in, only running CC for sync, no "apps" like PS) have two sync folders, and on my 1st main paltop I only sync a sub-folder.

This would be useful for my invited users (different licence) since they could then move the files from that sub-folder to the root "Creative Cloud Files" shared folder.

Been all over posts here, FAQ, how to's on Adobe for hours.. and this does not help at all: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-apps-number-of-computers.html

you have to be signed in to use cc apps and/or cc files that are not shared with you.

So thats awnser to 1) and 2) in regards to working with a colleague. What about the case with a 2nd PC as storage unit for my own "file transfer", requires to sing in/out for the sync to happened?

3) is it not possible to keep files on the 2nd device when I delete on my 1st device?? Same for for production files as well?

I saw a recent post where the solution was to use an SSD to move between PCs. So this or move files after sync is the only options?

4) No? What about save a copy on "storage unit"? Won't work right, the goal here is to delete files on my 1st? Can I still DL deleted files within 30days from the web version of CC?

New questions to other users here:

• what's your "non-Adobe" solution sharing +3GB files on a daily basis?

• Is it possible with Adobe CC to set up a sync-folder on a local server network? (Just using our server is a pain with Mac.. disconnection issues )
