inDesign relink / place issue

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro and installed Adobe CC but for some reason I cannot relink or place anything in InDesign anymore. It does a spinning color wheel for a bit and then just does nothing.

 

I've tried older versions of InDesign. Tried resetting the InDesign preferences. Tried alternate ways to relink or place. Still no luck. 

Any advice on how to fix this? It's really frustrating me.

did you use migration assistant (or any other migration app) to install on your new computer?

Update: Looks like it's not just InDesign. Tried exporting some artboards in Photoshop and when I select Browse Destination it does the same thing. Seems like my Adobe products are having trouble accessing finder when I need to browse for a file.
