Line Tool Does Not Work

Question

What happened to the line tool? Why does it not stay visible when I click on another object? Why does it disappear whenever I click something else?

What good is having a Line Tool option when it doesn't work like it did before?

Also pay very close attention to new GPU requirements. As an example, my video card is too old for the latest Photoshop 2021 version. So I'm staying put for now. There's no sense in creating unwanted problems.
