Switching from Photography Plan to College Buys Creative Cloud Plan - Do I lose my Lightroom photos?

Hi,

I currently have the annual prepaid 20GB Photography Plan from Adobe. However, I am buying the Creative Cloud suite through Collegebuys. I plan on buying it with the same Adobe ID. If I were to cancel that Photography Plan after a year, would I lose all of my Lightroom photos? Or would it switch to the Lightroom app in the Creative Cloud plan? I'm so confused as to what happens. Apparently, according to Adobe, the two plans run concurrent. I'm unsure as to whether i'd technically have two Lightroom programs and when I cancel the Photography Plan, all my photos would be lost.  I hope this makes sense and I really appreciate everyone who took the time to read this & help! It's so difficult getting answers as there's really no in-person Adobe store to go to.

Are you using Lightroom or Lightroom Classic? The 20Gb plan is quite limited for Lightroom. Well, if you are doing more than jpeg photography.

Look here for information on what to do to save your Lightroom data: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/cancel-cc-subscription-photos/

Hi @alexis5CE4,

You should always have multiple copies of important photos on backup drives, in case something goes horribly wrong.  When you cancel the Photography Plan, those benefits stop.

Instead of going through a 3rd party, why don't you contact Adobe directly and ask to have your Photography Plan changed to the Student Plan?   An Adobe support agent can help you with that.

1. With a browser that accepts cookies and does not have script blockers, please log-in to your account portal below.

2. Scroll down to Adobe Help Center on the same page.
3. Online chat is available in English 24/7. See screenshot.

4. In the chat box, type AGENT followed by enter key and wait for a human.
5. Alternately, phone customer service M-F during normal business hours.

Hi Nancy,

I appreciate you taking the time to read my post and reply. I'm from California and the board for California Community Colleges state-wide negotiated the prices with Adobe. So i'm buying it at a lower, negotiated, price through one of the California community school district's website. Unfortunately, I don't think I can ask Adobe to switch to that plan 😞

Thank you for your time,

Alexis

No you can't.  Find out if the school district really has a better plan.

I also live in California (Go Bruins!) 🙂  AFAIK, Adobe has only one student/teacher discount rate which is $20/mo for first 12 months and $30/mo thereafter until you cancel or graduate.

If I seem skeptical it's because sites that advertise drastically undercut prices are usually a scam.  We see forum horror stories about them all the time.

Good luck!
