This problem has been reported as a BUG in the User Voice section for Creative Cloud Services requesting that it is investigated and corrected.

Classified as topic under Desktop Sync.

Link for Bug report :

https://creativecloudassets.uservoice.com/forums/905281-report-bugs/suggestions/47048692--upload-of-video-files-to-my-files-result-in-fi

There seems to be no category choice to select either 'Idea' or 'Bug Report' on this User Voice site for Creative Cloud so it defaults to 'Idea Category' which is not strictly true as it is a problem that needs fixing.

Correct answer kglad

Thanks - but as other users have pointed out even uploading files manually results in a high likelyhood of upload failure with the dreaded ' Octet' label on the file which is useless and has to be deleted.

I've now gone over to using One Drive as that never fails.

imo it's unwise to fail to maintain locally controlled files. ie, trusting any cloud service to maintain important files is imprudent.

Hi @JonesVid,

We're sorry to hear about this. When you say "My files", are you referring to the Creative Cloud web or creative cloud files folder? Could you please let us know how did you upload the video? Did you upload it through assets.adobe.com or via the Creative Cloud Files folder? Also, what is the file format of the video you've uploaded?

You can use this link to report a Bug or Idea for the Creative Cloud app: https://community.adobe.com/t5/creative-cloud-desktop/ct-p/ct-creative-cloud-desktop?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=ideas

Hello Tarun,

Thanks for responding.

I'm uploading files to the Creative Cloud Web platform.

So most of the time I have been syncing files by dropping onto the Creative Cloud folders on my desktop, (although by Feb 2024 it will have to be manual as Desktop Sync is stopping?)

In fact, at least 2 years ago I have was having this ‘Octet’ defined file shown even when I uploaded manually.

Then replies on the Forum suggested you should ALWAYS sync via the Creative Cloud Folders within desktop/explorer (I am using Windows 11 on my main machine and Windows 10 on my old back up machine)

I’m tending to upload H264 or H265 video files

Typically about only 12 to 15MB/s  resulting in file sizes of about 2.5GB for a 25 min video file.

Sometimes need 2 or 3 attempts at uploading to get it to work before file corectly shows MP4 and the Icon versus Blank icon and OCTET.

My internet connection is good/stable with 20MB/s upload.

Please come back for more info if you need it.

Regards

I am now waiting for response to my bug report post why files are not correctly uploading to the 'My Files' area of Creative Cloud storage.

**It has also occurred to me that after Feb 2024 announcement when Adobe withdraw the 'DeskTop Sync function to synchronise Creative Cloud Folder on your PC/MAC with the Cloud - can anyone explain how a file greater than 1GB can be uploaded directly to the assets.adobe.com site.

It was my understanding that uploading a file greater than 1GB in size is not possible with this direct method and you had to rely on Desktop Sync only for larger files >1GB ?

A File >1GB is not unusual in the year 2023 !
