Why do old "Requests" show up?

I am see that a colleague's "invitation to shared folder" pop up as REquests. However, these are old requests. Anyone know why it might happen?

If you have already clicked Accept to the Collaboration invitation to the folder, then please click Reject. This will remove the old invitation.
