Activation Server error

Hi there.

I am stupid, I know. My Adobe Digital Editions asks me to Authirize my computer. When I enter my Adobe ID and password it keeps responding:

code: E_AUTH_NOT_READY

Digital Editions encountered an error on the activation server.

Well I've purchased an e-book and I cannot open it because of this "Activation Server error". What do I do please anyone?

Two years old, probably several versions past the one you used, over a dozen instances of the same problem, and no answer yet...

No options to contact adobe support staff directly. Adobe clearly has zero interest in customer service.
