Activation Server Error

When trying to open a book which I downloaded 11 months ago and last opened 9 months ago, on digital edition 4.5, I get the message "Activation Server Error - Code E_AUTH_NOT_READY. 

Is this likely to be an issue with Digital Editions or with the book itself?
