Actvation server error - Code E_AUTH_NOT_READY

I have a macbook pro and am trying to authorize Digital Editions so that I can use it. I am able to log into Adobe on the internet so I know my id and password but when I try to authorize Digital Editions I am getting the error: Actvation server error - code E_AUTH_NOT_READY. I have deleted and reinstalled Digital Editions but this has done nothing. What do I do?

This solved it for me:

Remove existing authorizations (even if they should not have been there), by choosing the matching item in the Help-menu.
Restart Digital Editions, and retry authorizing it with your Adobe ID
