ADE 2.0, "Error getting licence..communication problem E_stream_error.

I've used ADE version 2.0 successfully for several years.  Transition to Windows 10 didn't introduce any problems.  Severalmonths after that transition, I've started getting the erros shown above. Any hints? What does that error mean and how do I rectify that problem?
