ADE 3 and Kobo Aura

HI i had to uninstall ADE v1.7.2.1131 today as it had duplicated my library from c2100 books to 4500 books not impressed. also could drag books onto reader

went onto Kobo website and they suggested ADE3 as ADE4 not supported.  downloaded and ran and could drag books onto reader however when i tried to click on my ereader to check the library ADE3 crashed.  I have also tried with ADE2 and same thing happens.  am running windows 7 64bit

Any ideas
