ADE 4.0 - Error On Open - Windows XP

Hi,

I'm attempting to use ADE 4.0 on my Windows XP computer.  The installation completes successfully, but when I attempt to run the application (through the desktop shortcut or directly with the .exe) I get the following Windows pop-up:

Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience

***

The error report contains the following data:

I'm able to successfully install and run ADE 2.0 and ADE 3.0 without getting this or any other errors.

Has anyone encountered this issue?  If so, what was the resolution?

My operating system has all updates applied.

    I'm also having this problem. Why haven't adobe staff bothered to resolve this issue?
