ADE 4.5.10 hangs when downloading book

Our public library has recently moved to rbdigital for its ebook supplier. I have been unable to download books since. I have updated ADE to the latest edition. The download starts but then just hangs.

I saw a similar problem in 2016. Does this require the same solution i.e. a complete uninstall and removal of borrowed books and reinstallation/authorisation of ADE?

This seems to be a problem on Macs and Windows.
