ADE 4.5.12 (Windows) Crashes When Trying To Download New Book

ADE 4.5.12 (Windows) keeps crashing when trying to download new book or within 3 minute after opening the app. ADE has crashed a lot on me in the past but it was managable, now it is unusable. Did a Windows update break ADE? How the heck do I get my book? Do I need to contact Kobo to get my money back? I liked ADE because I could have my digital library in one place regardless of where I bought my book, if it is going to be this unreliable I am going to have to go back to physical books or DRM free ebooks, this is a nightmare.

    Having the same issue with ADE 4.5.12, kind of amazing that nobody has seen fit to address samantha’s question in the past 3 months.

    I downloaded ADE last night so I could download some Kobo-purchased books to my Win 11 PC, and was able to download about a half-dozen titles, which I was able to open up and read in the usual way. When I tried opening some more download links this morning, ADE immediately crashed on app launch. Now whenever I try to startup ADE (using a download link or by double-clicking the app directly) it stalls out and crashes without showing any content at all.
