ADE 4.5

I have ADE version 4.5 and run it on Windows 8. Every time I download a ePUB book from the library ADE crashes. It will not allow me to transfer to my NOOK either. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that did not work either. Our library uses Overdrive and recently updated it. Does anyone have any ideas/solutions?
